Cigar All Stars – Terry Bradshaw

You may not associate sports and athletes with cigars, but there are several top coaches and athletes who love to fire up a stogie. Some do it to celebrate a championship, when breaking a record, or to simply relax during the off-season. For this group we deem them Cigar All-Stars.

The owner of his football team the Pittsburgh Steelers introduced Terry Bradshaw to cigars. The late, great Art Rooney thought his quarterback would like to try one of his cigars. Little did he know Terry would raid the owner’s humidor (with a little help from Art’s secretary) and become a lifelong cigar smoker.

I don’t think Art minded too much seeing his star quarterback led them to 4 Super Bowl victories from 1975 to 1980. Bradshaw was a #1 draft pick in 1970 and after his extraordinary playing career ended he retired from football and became an NFL analyst. First starting with the CBS Sports crew and then joining the NFL FOX Sunday gang becoming an award-winning cohost.

Terry preferred the milder cigars such as The Griffin’s cigars and he was known for firing up a stogie while watching game tape.

Over the years Bradshaw became quite the entertainer appearing in several movies and TV shows. He even launched a singing career although it never became his day job. He’s written 5 books and is a renowned motivational speaker.

One of his many quotes is “I may be dumb, but I’m not stupid.” Personally I think Terry is one of the smartest quarterbacks to ever play the game of football.
